Glad you like the slide show DrPB. It was a result of one of my recces in 2010. Didn't have any descent shots for the first half. Great Great race. I felt like a proper man when I got my mug at the end. Back to do it again tomorrow. Good luck everyone.

What an amazing race it has a bit of everything, with the never ending climb through the quarries, the rocky section over the Glyders the mild scrambling over Lliwedd and then the grass slog up and over Moel Cynghorion. I took 5 1/2 hrs but could have done it faster just held too much back on the first half to Penny Pass, and from looking at my satellite trace some of the "sneaky" shortcuts did not work quite as well as planned. I will know better in future!

This has got to be on your "got to do this before you die" list. OK you may die on it but it will have been worth it

A good first half. Found the climb up to Lliwedd and Snowdon HARD. Then, STUPIDLY, got over cocky running down rangers path and thought I would cut the corner. Went too far left and found myself trying to contour the most ridiculessly steep scree slope to get back on the path. I think it cost me in the region of twenty five minutes. Really annoying as I think I know the route well and should have stuck to the path considering the weather. DOH!!!!!!
    Still, love/hate the race.
However, I preferred it when Mike gave the mugs out at the end of the race instead of at start. What's the incentive? In 2010 the thought of the mug was what dragged me round. Last year my mate (who will remain nameless (ALEX);-)got his mug at the start and ducked out a penny pass. Cheat!!!
Well done all. Especially Alex for knocking 30 mins off his 2010 time.

Well done Dan, nice to have met you. You just managed to get the better of me, I reckon if we'd had another 2 miles of flat running..... ;-)

    Great race.

    Cheers

Patrick.. regarding the split.. always considered Snowdon, Moelwyns, nantlle, Mynydd Mawr, Hebog and the western glyders etc to be west, with the east being the east part of the glyders, Carneddau and Siabod.. So Llyn y cwn, devils kitchen being the centre..

well done today, if its cloudy it can cost you a few moments, many of the short cuts aren't worth the risk as they are minor time savings in such weather..
