We didn't miss the checkpoint, there was no checkpoint. Mercia had about a 1 minute lead over Dark Peak, Borrowdale and Pudsey (me and my brother). As we came to CP5 Mercia came back into sight over the hill. This was a bit of the shock, as they had former world orienteering relay champion Graham Gristwood. We got to the top and there was clearly no CP. I checked the map, checked the CP description. Nothing. I then noticed a small wooden steak in the ground with tape on it, the marker used to show where the CP should be located. The group contained 2 of GBRs world orienteering champs team from this year, and 2 former internationals. We knew exactly where we were, we had found the tapes for the CP. We made the decision to continue going because we could all vouch for each other. Mercia lost their minute lead, and we were maybe all together on the top for about 15s before continuing on our way. The right team won in the end, despite having lost a minute because of this.
We were not quite 15 minutes up on schedule as is stated in the MST article, the Nav leg was 15 mins faster, but the 2nd leg was 10 minutes slower. So we were only 5 minutes up.
A very enjoyable day on the hills.

Leg 2 - got some great footage of this as both myself & Dad were around the course!
Leg 3 - missed the leading four teams (Mercia, P&B, DP & Borrowdale) as they came flying over the hill before I could get the camera out.
They missed the last check point as the dibber point wasn't there in time.

It's interesting as I thought that all clubs had to wear their club vests!!!! Just noticed someone from one of the clubs on leg 2 video not wearing his!!!!!
