Randy Newman (who is indisputably the greatest living American song writer) recently said that he thought his current/recent work was as good as anything he has ever written. Possibly, but if true it is because he is not a writer trying to capture the zeitgeist whereas, and I say it now, Adele will be forgotten in a decade just as Elton John, George Michael, Jagger-Richards, McCartney,...all of them... are just turning out dross.

I,ll hold you to that. Genuine talent will last. Adele can sing and write....maybe not in a style you like. But plenty of others do.
There is only so much room for talents as ginormous as Newman. He ain't on the same page as most.

As for the others you mention, sure, their major glories are well behind them but each has a body of work that will ensure their longevity.

Have seen it, and it's gory for sure, but just a tad silly. The youtube reaction vids led me to believe it was going to be genuinely shocking.

Thats what I thought, yes it's gore but the youtube reactions were ridiculous. It's pertty full on for a music video, but it's no 2 girls one cup! (even though now know to be fake).
