    heard tawny owls a couple of nights ago, about 3.30am...stuck my head out of the window but didn't catch a glimpse...but I did see a hedgehog scuttling across a neighbours drive!

    Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter

    At 0.45 last night I was cleaning my teeth and heard a right racket just outside my window. I went into the garden to investigate and a tawny owl was perched on the telegraph pole at the bottom of my garden calling to one that was in the woods some way away. He wasn't bothered by me at all so I got my camera out but it was hard to shine my headtorch on him and take a picture so I've just got a bit of a blurry back shot. He then took off flying low over my head so I felt the air from his wings, amazing!!:thumbup:

    I went to bed a bit earlier last night and he wasn't there but I'll be checking every night now! There's also some barn owls that live up near the common and I have seen them when I'm cycling in the winter so I'm hoping for some more owl watching soon.

    I really should take a camera with me when I run, fortunately there are some bloggers who have done the leg work for me;
