Glad you enjoyed it (sort of) Helen. looked for you but never met up. When we got to camp it was chilly so we stuck in the tent until about 8.30 when it started to cloud over and get milder. Pleased with our result on B. Day 1 no major nav errors and just a couple of dubious route choices and then day 2 just one bad control near start in mist and then a pretty good day. Was very wet and cold by finish tho- even the guy doing kit check on us relented and let us go for soup and bus. Glad we were in chasing start and did not have to stick to our 9.17 start on day 2. an't believe how fine my legs feel today- off climbing now (indoors). Marshalls sat out on hill without a tent on day 2 were true heros!

MrRTS & team mate had a mare on day one as they overshot CP2 by quite some way. Got to CP6 and decided to head for camp as team mate done in so sadly an incomplete day. Camp he said was bloody freezing. Day 2 was cold, wet very windy but they hit every CP to cross the finish line with a smile and a massive hug for me. He looked like he could go again. Conversation in the car on way home. "I was freezing babe it was bloody horrible. We will have to get you some of the lightweight gear and we will do one together next year". Ermm, what was at the beginning of that statement lol.
Well done to all the marshals and helpers at the finish line. To the Elite runner that stripped off completely in the kit check tent I don't think they need to check your kit that thoroughly lol. Not that the kit check lady was complaining. The Kit check people were really lovely.
Also, well done to me for standing in poring rain, freezing and traumatised by the state of some of the finishing competitors for 4 hrs :-/.
AND WE DO THIS FOR FUN!!!

We had a decent run, we messed up CP9 on day .. stupid but just weren't concentrating but then a decent run from then. Yesterday we were much more switched on due to the cloud and nailed almost every CP and route choice I think.. day 1 we did a huge swing to the north on one of the long legs which I'm not sure everyone did..

The big one yesterday 5>6 we swung over 2 500m cols and then another traverse and climb before a final descent, steep climb descent, pretty much straight lined it. We did consider running all the way along the ridges.

Didn't really see anyone at the Campsite but we were in bad soon after 7 I reckon, cold night.

I finished feeling good, but hammered now. Glad to get the car out of the field.. that was a mess. I saw comments about litter on the OMM forum, TBH I don't think I saw anything all weekend.. I had one wrapper blow away 2 times before I finally got it stashed, but don't think I saw one gel sachet all weekend.. and I thought the skip was handy.

    My first proper go too.
I must be sick and twisted beyond medical help because I absolutely loved it, though I wasn't ambitious enough to throw myself at the Elite course - chapeau.

Possibly the best couple of days I've had in the mountains for quite some time. It was a perfect combination of beautiful clear Saturday, clouding over to make the camping a bearable temperature followed by a claggy, wet and windy Sunday - a nice test of mountain-craft and fortitude with the prospect of a nice cup of soup and bus-ride to sausage butty at the end.

It was great to have to go to places you wouldn't normally visit via routes you'd normally by-pass. I've always wanted to traverse under the crags next to Cautley Spout and I really enjoyed that.

Walking up to the start we chatted to two ladies from Essex. It was their first MM too, and they were agog at our "wilderness." They are probably unaware of the existence of this forum, but I hope they had a great time too.

I'd be dead interested in seeing the Elite Course for future reference. If somebody could upload the map or some details I would be really grateful.

Good weekend. We found the medium score challenging in terms of route choice... really good planning with no immediately apparent best option. In hindsight pretty sure we could've scored better with a better choice of route, but I guess most teams feel that way! Testing conditions on day two. We spent most of the day in the south east section of the map around Baugh Fell and it was pretty grim going in all the bogs and marshes. Managed a cramp-inducing thigh-deep dip at one point. All worth it for the pasty and beans at the end though.

    Look here -

    http://www.omm.routegadget.co.uk/

After selecting Day1 Elite/A.B.D page then select Elite on choose Class/Course box

If you want to see routes then click on a team with an asterisk by their name (you can choose several at the same time)
then click 'view routes' and their routes will be displayed on the map together with the split times at top right.
If you want to see them racing in comparative time then click 'view animation' and to the right a 'Start' box will appear
before you click it make sure you've dragged the map around so you are viewing the start - then press 'start' and off they go!

How do you save without box coming up? I've used routegadget before but I've forgotten something simple I think.
