    Re: Todays Billy Bragg

Can't believe I've missed this thread. Always been a huge Billy Bragg fan.

Nowadays listening to him reminds me of an old mate who died of alcoholism recently but I lost contact with 10 years ago. 20 years ago we used to sit around all night listening to Billy (and Elvis Costello, Michelle Shocked, Kirsty McColl....amongst many others), drinking, smoking, laughing, chatting and singing along. Had a great video of him live we used to watch. Had us leaping from the sofa to jump over beer crates laughing drunkenly whenever The Great Leap Forward came on. Amazing songwriter.

    Happy memories.

    RIP H.

    Long live Billy Bragg.

Always been a big fan (ageing punk, saw the man through this side of things at an early stage but f@cked if I can remember the first time - that'll be the ageing), a colossal leftie all my days, hanger on and collector of funds for the miners strike back in the day and heartened to find some others on here. Hasta la victoria siempre ;-)

 Ha Ha. The lyrics change each time. This was the video we used to watch (fingers crossed I've got this right, not done it before).

Edit - that didn't work...how do I get the video on You Tube to appear here?

Singing with the late Ted Hawkins, recorded at Leeds Uni. Not much of a video but I do like the song 'Cold & bitter tears'.
