    Re: Turnerlandscape....

Anyone able to give a summary of the route for this at all? I think Swirl How's involved somewhere along the line?

    Thanks.

    A cracking route:

Turner Hall Farm - Greyfriar - Swirl How - The Old Man - Dow Crag (just W of summit) - White Pike - Turner Hall Farm, with a final checkpoint between White Pike and the finish at the old quarry building just S of the Walna Scar Road or the gate where the Walna Scar Road goes through the intake wall.

Thanks for that. Just trying to squeeze in another race to my plans and had heard this is really nice. Will probably go from about 40 runners to 400, though!

    Re: Turner Landscape

As far as I can find out, there's not a race map out for this race yet. Does anyone know if there is one?

Also, I was wondering about the route. On the map it seems like you'll probably go north of the tarn on the way up from the farm. Then it seems like you're faced with some steep ground. Is the best route just picking a line through that?

Also, on the last leg, back down to the farm, the best way seems very direct, but is that private land that's only opened up for the race? On a recce, would you go back, north, to the Walna Scar Road and down that way?

    Thanks a lot.

Outward route follows the metalled track to Seathwaite Tarn, across the dam then straight up onto Grey Friar.
Route to the finish is across enclosed / private land and flagged from the last checkpoint.

Thanks for that. Sounds like the outward route will be more clear once you're there than it seems on the map (to me at least).

    Cheers.

Very obvious and clear. Although not shown on the OS map, there is a clear (minor) trod from the dam all the way up to Grey Friar summit,

Great. Thanks for that. Looks a lovely route. Looking forward to going up 'The Old Man' for the first time.

Pass out secured. Can't wait to see this part of the Lakes. Just need to get entry to the race now.
