When I walked it last year we ended up in Rowen. The trek from the last peak to Rowen was the hardest part of the whole day. Seemed to go on forever.

Come on Chris, get your entry in - it'll give you more reason to get fit. Anyway you can't be much less fit than I am, or you wouldn't be able to walk about

Indeed. Thats what I'm hoping. My entry is now in anyway.

Take it you're injured at the moment Splatcher ?

I ran the Hebden on Saturday after 6 weeks with no running at all - hip injury then cold/cough. My calf muscles are a bit shell-shocked, but I'll be out tomorrow night training. The fightback started on Saturday!

Good effort that with no training

Couple of months training for me and then test the fitness at Howarth Hobble

I'm glad i started this thread - learning all sorts of useful stuff. Thanks for your insights !

Another question for you knowledgeable lot then: what sort of shoes to wear ? When I walked the route I did the first part in boots and the Barneddau in Mudclaws. Obviously I don't want to wear boots for the run, but was wondering what shoes would be best for the early rocky bits...? Assuming fell shoes are out of the question for Crib Goch, what about Approach shoes ?

That's a big assumption. I'll be wearing... Mudclaws 272s. Probably my 2nd best pair as it's a special occasion.

Sorry for the big delay answering, had issues signing in with my old account and with my new one

Right, I'll try to answer everyone's questions, there will also be an FAQ on the website soon too.

Yes transport will be laid on from the end of the race back to the beginning.

There are two points to get drinks and food on the main 55km course, you can also have drop bags so can change clothes etc.

Last year a few of us were given Salomon Speedcross trainers for the race and they were excellent (and vegan!!), perfect for Crib Goch imo

The gps will be up soon too

There's a training day on sunday 14th april so folk can recce the route together. there's also a fell runners' navigation day on 13th april

There's a facebook page here and folk can register for the race here

Now we can log on we'll answer questions a bit quicker hopefully

I'll be having a recce over Crib Goch sometime before the race if anyone fancies it. Not sure when yet but probably March,April time.
