My feelings are the same as yours Starsky, I was a little ahead of you finished in 2:12, I was wearing a orange pertex top if you saw me.

Back home after a terrific weekend in Fort william. Must admit, as 1 or 2 people pointed out once it was all over - was nervous before the start & indeed in the days leading to Saturday - not been that concerned over a race ever - think it was the combination of not running well all year & the fact that it is the Ben. Anyway took it steady all the way round and realy enjoyed it- great camaraderie on the hill both from front runners on their way home offering encouragement (Cheers Daz h) and fellow backmarkers. The last quarter - from the Red burn crossing back to the finish did seem to go on for ever-although to be fair it is downhill and like a dork managed to trip & gash my hand on the flat track directly opposite the Nevis cafe.

Most impressive performance of the day - Fleeter drinking a trophy full of alcohol including 17 shots apparently - oh he did win the U23 category.

A pleasure to speak to a hatful of forumites including Geronimo for the 1st time. Will definitely be back for more next year.

It's a great race, but having entered and been unable to run due to injury the past two years, I've decided enough is enough. I paid £9 to run it in 2007 and I'm not prepared to lay out £23 (with no refunds or substitutions) in the hope of being uninjured this year. I'll spend a fiver on a race nearer home.

I totally agree. A great race.....but £23 to enter, plus all the other expenses involved, couldn't justify that.

Exactly ~ Grisedale Horseshoe is the one to run instead on that day. It's a cracker and IMHO it's the best of the two. (see my posts from previous years).

I must admit I really enjoyed the Ben Nevis Race when I've done it but I'm not sure when I'll enter it again having missed out three years on the bounce!!...and with the price of it now. I don't suppose its to extortionate in the great scheme of race entries but it has really soared in price. Grisedale HS is a great alternative and I think if I was running that weekend thats the one I'd choose!
