I found the route easy enough to navigate first time, with a 1:25000 map & compass, apart from the last couple of miles in the dark! The route's marked on the OS maps.
Ha ha thats the only bit where I went wrong yesterday ! Didn't see the trail at all from Mow Cop to Kidsgrove station

Agreed most of the route is easy to navigate . In fact you don't really need to navigate as its really well signposted.

I'll be having a proper running attempt south - north in a month or so. Your 6 and a half hours looks a pretty good time Splatcher.
