I'm looking forward to it.
What a discussion this is. I have a lot of sympathy with the RO, that's a thankless job.

I have entered the Fairfield Horseshoe Hes which is also a Champ Race this year. Now, I will be near the back (really near) but my entry is in, the cheque won't bounce and I will be fit....so bring it on. My race year is planned around my family so pre-entry really works for me (champs or not)...in our house you've gotta get it on the calendar!

I'm in, big thanks to RO! Although i may need to recover first from the stroke i had when i saw it was full already! Dog biscuits in bum bag RTS

By the way hope i didn't give impression i was looking for sympathy about being skint cos i spend all my time running! I'm lucky to have the choice..

And to the nice forumite who offered me his place, no names mentioned, thanks!

 Good for you. I agree, I have to plan races round my work and I like to have a few pre-entried ones punctuating my calendar so I've some goals to keep me motivated. Good luck at Fairfield, hope you have a good'un

Why not have a system for all Championship races which is a bit like they have at the 3 Peaks race, where the first so many finishers in last year's race (across all categories) have automatic entry. For example the overall top 10 or top 20 Senior Men from last year's English are automatically entered for ALL of the following years' English Champs races. I don't mean they don't have to pay the entry fee, just save them the hassle of having to worry about getting their entry in, that there are places in the races for them if they want them. Too elitist? I don't think so, I think it would be something you earn. I wouldn't want to see Championship races become like the WMRT trial races (hell no, have them as full as the local landowners will let us!) but surely by defintion they should contain a higher calibre of athlete than a non-championship race, shouldn't they?

    well said FF

lets get this back on track, Ian has enough on his plate being a hard working RO. if you want to comment on the race route, kit check , various lines etc then fill your boots. if you want to talk about entry procedure for races then start a generic thread on the matter.

Re checkpoint "Lord’s Seat on Path (GR 106832)" - is that the same as last year? I just looked at my race route on Tracklogs and I didn't pass through that point, instead turned right before then. Did I actually miss a checkpoint?!

I wasn't criticising the RO at all, more a blanket suggestion/recommendation for all Champs races to be bound by automatically as part of the FRA Championship rules, rather than at the discretion of each RO. It would rightfully deflect a lot of flak away from the ROs who as you say, have enough to deal with.

'All'...nothing personal... start another thread elsewhere for generic issues...please..as two or more have already said or insinuated since entries openes and closed....
Edale is too good a skyline to get hi-jacked.
