Oh God, the dreaded waterproof/windproof/taped seam/pertex debate! Yes, there is a waterproofing requirement in excess of FRA rules on the basis that I don't think windproofing alone would do you a lot of good if you're unfortunate enough to have to pull up or stop in wet conditions on an isolated and exposed bit of moorland. I'll stick with the same as I said last year and hope this is sufficient:

Full body cover: Your top must be waterproof and windproof. Your trousers may be windproof only (ie not waterproof) if you wish, however this is not advised if the conditions are poor.

You get horribly lost, spend 20 minutes trying to work out where you are on an OS map, have the embarassment of having to ask passing ramblers for help, realise you are a mile off-course and finish nearly last

No you cross that road on the descent from sheepstones trig and drop down to the bridge (CP14) then head up through the fields to eventually join the road nearer the top and after a short section of that road turn left down the track/road you started the race on. See map.

Thanks, that's really useful. So the the loop down the steep road south of the start, right turn at cp14 and then up the steep path back up to the finish.......is this run at the start of the race then? That would make sense on the cvfr map.

Here's a couple of maps of the start and finish. They used to be on the CVFR website but can't see them now.

The finish map shows the route from when you leave the moorland to cross the road, having descended from sheepstones. This descent has been flagged in the past.
