well done anyway rob and thanks for your company and keeping me straight, you were going really well when you left me actually, so a bit of an up n down day!
Youve improved your position from 28th to 16th tho, so mainly up!

    Thanks for the results Martin
Most folks at the sharp end seemed to be around 8 ish mins slower than last year, FWIW.

I pretty much lost most of the time on that section.

I remember that it was frozen underfoot, but I can't remember how more or less runnable this section was last year?

The reason I ask is that I am a lot less fit than I was last year, but it seems as though I did lose the time from getting tired (apart from up the Chevin), but much earlier in the race.
Understandable is that, fozzy. This year there was a lot of dodging about around the puddles and bogs on the climb to Lanshaw Lad, which can take a lot out of you if the fitness is a bit down. Last year it was frozen and easier running.

Yes, thanks for the link Multi. It was good to chat briefly.

Others were 8 mins slower? Hmm, I was 6 mins faster than last year - first sub-4 finish and a PB on the new route, even with the unexpected out-and-back; probably my best ever performance in 14 years of running this event, so well chuffed. I don't know how you others manage closer to 3 hours though, let alone sub-3. Superhuman is what you is. :w00t:

Photos recently uploaded, taken as I jogged my way round.

Yeah it was a great day this, and a lot less boggy than I'd feared. I was 7 or so minutes slower than last yr for the record. Some more photos of everyone plodding up the Chevin

Thanks for the pics link, Shiny Beast, and thanks to Dave and Eileen 'Woodentop' and SportSunday for theirs. What a brilliant crop between them.

Good to chat to you too Nick and as always some good pics taken by you (despite me being the 'star attraction' of the Lanshaw Lad checkpoint pic!:w00t and others. Jez will be pleased to see that Dave W got pics of me running off-piste alongside the 'dreaded' slabs!

It's a good 'un even if I say so myself, Multi. You were on the chosen path at its beginning but I noticed you strayed by the wayside after the checkpoint. Did you always have wayward tendencies? Your avatar is looking very contemporaneous, incidentally.

I've just scraped together some words about the day in the form of a pretend poem.

Thanks TC (that should stand for Top Cat with a finishing time like yours - well done Sir).

It was a lot quicker than a full-on story, that's for sure - rattled off straight onto blog, last minute decision last night. Does it show?

Everyone nicely recovered? Proper Hill training commenced this week. First set of 5 min hill reps done (only 3 for the first week), got to beat that bloody cramp
