Have planned on running this tomorrow but now come down with a cold and sore throat - will see how things are in the morning. Good race this with a bit of everything thrown in.

I don't think I've done this (might have done years ago when I lived in Liverpool) but I've done the LDWA Beacon Bash on the Sunday and seen markers for the Parbold Hill race which has been the day before. This year Beacon Bash is next weekend. It's certainly nice running round Parbold Hill.
What a race! Never thought it'd be possible to get so muddy...
Great atmosphere and a great varied course, as previous people have said, there was a bit of everything in there. And the sun was even shining.
Photos are starting to appear here from today's race:

Loads more to come over the next few days
great race, but, I thought the start was a bit maybe unfair. I should of pushed to the front but I didn't. In doing so I didn't get a time I felt I ciuld of got, but apart from that, great race. The mud was and water was good fun, just the start was bit like a bottle neck, thats the only gripe really. The farmers water spray thingy was a nice touch too, first time I've been able to wash my legs and trainers after a race.
Hi Trigger88 - the club (Skelmersdale) were notified on the day of the race that we couldnt use the field to start and finish the race - so a decision was made to move to the Field - unfortunately the field was not the best place to start - and a late call was made to move onto the road..i don't think this should impact your time significantly ?
Glad you enjoyed the race and the "shower"
yes sorry, my comment sounds a little petty now. I will have to be a little more forceful in future and get nearer the front, it was a great race. The shower at the end was a first for me, never seen one at a race before and it was probably the first time i've ever left a race with clean trainers. I will recomend the race to others, great entry for people into fell running.
not at all! It did get a little confusing...there were nearly 500 runners to be looked after - and safety and following the RO rules/guidelines were not to be compromised. The call to move onto the road was the correct one at the time.
Glad you enjoyed the "shower" it's a great invention!
Surprised no one resurrected this thread for the 2013 edition. Good times were had by all, it seemed. My first outing and won't be my last. Some nice shots by Dave Pennington too: http://www.flickr.com/photos/davepin...7632779659435/
