Can anyone advise re: sizing on the mk2, I would normally wear a 10 mudclaw or 10.5 Salomon Speedcross. Thinking 10.5 in these?

I'm a 10 in most shoes and my size 10 Cheviots fit perfectly

Most people tend to go up half a size for the Black / Red Cheviot mk2's. If you're 10 Mudclaw then go 10.5 for Cheviots.

Usually, when ordering a new model of shoe, I order a couple of sizes to make sure I get the best fit. Worse case scenario it costs you £3.99 to send the other pair back....which you have saved by buying 2 pairs for £55.

Couple of weeks in and I am liking these very much. Flexibility improves with use and they feel very low to the ground...like Walsh PB extremes.
Grip on non rocky surfaces transformative. Cant really comment on extended rocky surface yet. But I will be racing in them.

Great run today around the Edale Skyline. Conditions were hard/icy underfoot, with frozen bogs over Brown Knoll. Shoes were great. No difference against Inovs or Walsh, other than better grip on the down and up from Grindslow to Ringing Roger. Time will tell if they stay together, but now wear in the uppers after several longer fell runs and 2 races.

I've just got a lovely red and black pair of these. They match my KCAC sweatshirt and are rather good I think. As good as my mudclaws dare I say

Good tip. Since I've got all sizes of shoes from 5 to 6.5 in my shoe cupboard, I was having trouble guessing which size to order, so I did what you suggested, settled for the 6 and just sent the other back.:thumbup: Mind you, had I known someone would be selling them at the Flower Scar race on Sat. I could have saved myself the effort. Ah well.

Only worn them once so far - 14 miler over Winter Hill, Anglezarke and Darwen Moors. Since the ground was pretty frozen it wasn't the sternest test, but they were comfy, even on the hard stuff.

Gave em a good work out on sugarloaf today. Utterly brilliant. Worrying about grip no longer an issue.
If I had spent £80-90 on these I would be feeling very smug in the knowledge that spending more gives you much better equipment. But they were £30. I am gobsmacked.
Googling around, I find that the only real reservation is about longevity.
So, question. What would be better? 3 pairs of these (maybe in different colours) or one pair of a premium brand?

Having done many runs, races and even the High Peak Marathon where the frozen bogs felt like running on broken bottles, I am more than happy with the Mk1 pair. They still have many more miles left in them.
