Thanks for standing out at mankinholes - and big thanks for the ibuprofen- once they had kicked iin my race started again and I enjoyed myself! Mark L - I have to agree - the weather was not as bad as I had feared from the forecast and i was never seriously cold- just a bit atmospheric over the last tops.

I had to dig deep to keep going over Top o't' Stairs. Weather looked grim, but really wasn't too bad was it? I had to take my waterproof off at Widdop as I was too hot, & it never went back on again. Bad patch from Mankinholes to Heptonstall, then I got motoring again. Until the last bit from the reservoir & up the road & over Penistone Hill - I always struggle on that last bit. Good to chat to Karen, Mrs Stagger, Daz, MOUNTAIN MAN. Sorry I wasn't very communicative at the end - I was totally out of it! 18 minutes slower than last year (I made it 5:46), but I'm happy enough with that.

Well not a fun day at the office for me - body and mind not really in the right place - but I finished it and I guess its all miles in the bag!
Nice route though - shame the views were hidden.
Charity cake stand at the finish - awesome!

I hadn't realised that I'd been in so many blizzards before.
The weather was bad enough to make it feel heroic but not bad enough for serious suffering or even to put long trousers on.
Another great day out on a super course.
The weather was nowhere near as bad as I was expecting. I wasn't running yesterday; so got 'round in about 9 hours and a there was a little bit of a blizzard on the descent from Top O't Stairs.
Best part of the day? possibly the Laphroigh at Mankinholes!

Good job the Haworth Hobble starts from Haworth, then.

There are a number of stock responses to an inaccurate weather forecast, and yours is a standard - "the weather forecast was accurate for somewhere else." It's usually that, or "the blizzard/deluge/hurricane/sub-zreo temperatures came 12 hours later."

I'm just glad that I ignored the forecast and took gear appropriate for the conditions at the start and the possiblity that it might get worse/better.

    "Blizzards forecast for Saturday" indeed!

First Hobble and first long distance event for me and I loved it! Simply wanted to get round and use it as a learning experience but on reflection was perhaps overly cautious so slightly disappointed with 6:36 but on the other hand I've set a marker, learnt a lot and wil be back for more!

Well done to everyone out there yesterday and a big thanks to all the organisers and marshalls
