I met Stolly (and his dog Harry) and also spoke to Tindersticks (again).

Couldnt hang around after to eat cake and chat after the race as I had a little girl to pick up. Upon nearing her house, (just off Castle Lane Tod) I saw the Sweepers coming past. Big thanks and respect to them and all the other marshalls, it was 2pm already and they were only halfway round.:thumbup:

ps Great work by stanners getting 9th place in 4hrs 44mins, thought i had done really well to finish in 5.04 and he was already changed.

That was hard work but fun.

Suprised to meet cefn_dave (of this parish) at the first queue/kissing gate - I was grouped with him on last year's Fellsman!
Shoes almost self destructed before Widdop after losing two lace loops on each foot.
Cocked up my fuel intake and ran out of energy coming down from top o stairs. Need to think more about what I eat...

I was super tired when I got to the finish. So much so I forgot how to use my watch, add up hours read my time on the sheet. Staggered off for a brew thinking I'd run it in 7h 51m and pleased to get under 8 hours. Looked on results sheet later to find myself oddly missing from the 7h 51m area. Turned out I'd run 7h 15m - the perils or reading your time upside down! For someone who has only been running properly since December last year I'm quite happy with this result!

Lovely post run food (it was hot and pasta-esque and therefore perfect) and cake.

Back into Fellsman training as soon as my foot stops hurting :P Ouch

I had a fun day. Couldnt believe it when my lady pairs partner appeared on the start line in Shorts!!! and I was being vaguely sensible for once in my life and had tracksters on. On her first ultra ever too with only 2 marathons to her name, and not been running full stop much more than a year.
I didnt enjoy the first descent to Walshaw Dean reservoir as it was so claggy I could hardly see where I was going as my glasses were misty too. Also my Adidas Supernova Riots had poor grip on the wet flagstones. I went straight ahead (left) at the middle of Walshaw Dean reservoir, and not right over the middle dam wall. My partner made ground on me when we rejoined so its defo quicker to go right on the more 'roadie' section. After the first CP, she unfortunately came a cropper on the fast backwind but tricky rocky section out towards Lancs border n Hurstwood, and had a lovely gashed bloody knee and a brown nose from a faceplant LOL. I stuck with her like glue after that and she dug in. It got colder and there was a dash of snow and rain and a cold headwind at this point but thankfully it warmed up a tad later and she recovered really well, especially with the magic aid of a Mars bar up the hill to Heptonstall. It was well claggy at the top of Stoodley, pretty cool actually. We finished really well on the last drags after Midgeholes and up to the final trail hill before down into Haworth, alternating power walking the steeper sections and running the shallower sections refreshed, never going into the Red. Made and retained lots of places here. Despite forgetting how tough the first part of Penistone Park was, we were both very chuffed to get in 'just' under 5hrs, and not only first Mixed Pair back, but first Pair back full stop, and she was the fastest Lady finisher full stop. How cool was that! Nice prizes too :thumbup:

What a great day out,always well organised.i did my fist hobble in 1993,am a bit slower now!!more training required if the joints allow.Have enjoyed the banter and advice on this forum.
Good to meet up with you James,thedatastream,again.The change from boots to shoes seems to have quickened your pace,good effort,see you on the Fellsman.
Looking forward to more Fellsman chatter,helps with the motivation.May be the weather will be kinder this year!!!!!

Do I get a prize LOL for being probably the only person running with no bumbag / rucksack of any kind. Fitted ALL my mandatory gear into rear cycle jersey pockets. Map was down my chest.

I didn't realise stolly was the guy with the dog. Ran alongside stolly at about 10 miles in and commented that I wish I had his dogs energy. Harry would drop sticks and stones at the feet of runners and chase and retrieve, he must of run 60 miles, fantastic, made me laugh....Harry, top dog.

Hi Craig, regarding route choice we just followed the lads in front, call it extra training. Enjoyed the event and it was a first for me to be running whilst eating hotdogs and doughnuts. How about yourself?

Didn't feel like I'd had the best of runs pal. Good result though. Love the odd ultra especially one as good as the hobble
