Discussions are ongoing at the moment. we will make a descision and publish it on here and on the DP and FB siteson Friday. Waterproofs are very likely at the moment
There's also a "possibility" of long thermal legs and warm hat (or 2 buffs) we don't want a repeat of that year or any cases of hypothermia...Nothing certain yet but take everything with you as it may be needed.

Have spoken to Edale MRT today and the final email to competitors will be going out very shortly.

I hope to put a notice about kit requirements at the race car park, but the FRA marquee will be up in the playing fields next to the hall , this can be used for changing and kit storage.

in view of the forecast I will not be penalising people who don't turn up. If people don't want to race in the likely conditions its better all-round if they don't.

    All very sensible measures Ian

I'm so looking forward to Sunday, think it's going to be a "classic"

Sounds about right. On a 3 hr 40 round last year my splits were 59 mins to Win Hill, 1 h 58 to Mam Nick, and 2 h 40 to Jacobs Ladder.

Still looking forward to Sunday whatever the weather. Usually carry everything but the kitchen sink anyway!

As long as everyone goes out with the same attitude of those who took part in last year's Great Lakes we should be OK.

Thanks very much for the crystal clear instructions Ian and fantastic online presence on here, facebook and twitter, very much appreciated and if anyone turns up without all the kit I think you'd be well within your rights to slap them!

Whilst I'd be happy in my ability to get around safely without all the extra kit being asked for, I more than understand why we're being asked to carry it and will do so gladly (although regretting not having anything between a 3L bumbag and a 25L MM sack!).

Of course, I just have to get down to Sheffield late Saturday night then into the valley now!

Havent really reccied this for some time and the bit I always find confusing especially in mist is finding the turn off the main path out to Grindslow Knoll, is there any obvious features that mark the way? Also tempted to go down and back up at the end but when re ascending RR after the drop do we have to go back to the zig zags as at the start to avoid disqualification? And if not why is it OK to beeline RR at the end but not at the start?

The 'Down and Up' is Grindslow Knoll to Ringing Roger, and then back down the zig zags the same way that you went up at the start.

I realise that the down and up is GK to RR, but looking at the map the ascent to RR is only just to the North of the ascent of the zig zags at the start and I just wonder why we have to take those at the start but not for the reascent later on, unless there is some kind of trod up Golden Clough? As I say I havent reccied it for a long time ( probably a mistake!).

At approx 17.4 mls the flagged path forks (go straight on or rightish). At this junction are two very distinct/unusual rocks on your right - I think about as tall as a person. You can either then follow this path all the way to Grindslow, or soon after cut-off left and run parallel to it to take a more direct line. Have tried both didn't seem much difference - may be easier going the path way on Sunday.
