    Re: Fellsman

The organisers specifically request that recces don't take place, and people doing so almost caused the cancellation of the race a couple of years ago.
So I'm curious, why do people not only still recce the route, but post details on these forums, and even create blogs about it?
The question is aimed at myself as much as anyone else - I posted details of our recces on the club website when we did the event.
Is there perhaps an element of "the rules are for other people" about it?

All of the route is over open access land or public rights of way. As for recces, I seriously doubt that the footfall over somewhere like Middle Tongue (one of the sensitive areas I believe) is even noticeable. Living in the Dales as I do it seems wierd that some open access land should for some reason not be open access, just because I'm in the race. And yes I've been over fleet moss and middle tongue once this year, through 2 feet of snow and a blizzard

If you are and can stand a steady person plodding along behind you I'd be keen!
You can either contact me on here, PM me or email <the data stream at google mail dot com> (remove spaces)
I've got my own transport so we could potentially do two cars for a linear route?
Otherwise its a round of the 3 peaks with the odd extension thrown in for me...
    Cheers

p.s. if anyone needs a personal reference that I'm not a complete numpty then hopefully cefn dave or Derby Tup can oblige (be nice guys)

The handbook (page 20) has Middle Tongue CP at SD909811, which is the trig at 643m; but the website (http://www.fellsman.org.uk/?page_id=39) has it at SD906803. I think I may have lost a correction slip that came with the handbook though ... was this for Middle Tongue?
