Us too. Went up Whernside and then down past the tarns to Boot in The Wold/Craven Way then did the route as far as Dodd Fell. Back to Ribblehead via the Pennine Way.
Snow Report:
A few patches of snow left on the flank of Whernside, but nothing serious. Looking back at Ingleborough was a different matter though, it looked like the Swines Tail is still going to be full of ice/snow. A few patches here and there on Blea Moor, also the line up to Great Knoutberry has a good amount of snow in the lee of the wall. The only snow of any significance that I saw was approaching Dodd Fell. We went up the Pennine way for a short distance before heading NE towards the summit and there was still a good few drifts around.
Unless I'm much mistaken, on the day any remaining snow on the route will be in the vicinity of Buckden Pike and Great Whernside.
I seem to remember reading that after last years "excitement", the organisers are being more stringent on the kit list but I can't remember seeing anything notably different ?
Anyone know what's additional to last year ?
Well on the clothing front it's a baselayer, 3 long sleeve tops and a cag.
The rules on the website clearly state:
4. CLOTHING (to be worn or carried)
a) Entrants must wear or carry legwear manufactured for fell walking or fell/trail running. Substantial trousers are also acceptable. These are additional to the waterproof trousers stated in rule 4e.
b) Tracksuit trousers and denim will not be acceptable.
c) Shorts/three-quarter length legwear may be worn providing full-length legwear is also carried. This is in addition to the waterproof trousers stated in rule 4e.
d) Waterproof shell or jacket with hood, preferably brightly coloured.
e) Waterproof overtrousers, preferably brightly coloured.
f) Base layer
g) A minimum of three long sleeved tops (not cotton) to allow a layering system.
h) A warm hat and waterproof gloves or mittens.
I can promise you that equipment check this year will be stringent and there will be no exceptions.

Interesting. I'm guessing they mean a base-layer and three additional long-sleeve tops (so four in total) and a waterproof jacket. It's not totally clear though as 4c states that full-length legwear should be carried in addition to the waterproof trousers specified in 4e, but 4f does not state the base-layer should be in addition to 4g (or vice versa). Who'd be an RO, eh?
Think I'll take 4 tops and a jacket to registration and, if we're allowed to, I'll leave one behind.

There is no ambiguity here. I'm quite surprised at people's different interpretations when reading the same thing. It clearly states that you can wear short or 3/4's, but you MUST also carry full length leg wear which is IN ADDITION to carrying waterproof trousers. So if you wear shorts you must also take longs and waterproofs.

Hank, why would you think that you could leave one behind ? Again the rule is unambiguous.
And don't get me started on the idiot who thought Marigolds would pass for waterproof gloves. Some people shouldn't be let out !
