Well no joy with khatoola at the moment sent two emails with no response, time to dig a little deeper and find a UK number and ring them I think.

Progress on the khatoola front at last!! I took them back to planet fear in Keswick over wkend where I think I got them and even though I was unsure and dint have receipt or owt they took them off me said they'd have a go for me and this morning got a call saying there sending them off and will have them repaired or replaced and send them to me. Excellent customer service from planet fear couldn't fault them at all but still no reply from khatoola pf couldn't get a response either so tried the dristubuter and it's them thats sorting it out so boo khatoola customer service. I'll post the third parties details up in case anyone had any probs too when I receive them back
Just collected a brand new replacement pair today, although they've been sat in Scunthorpe at a carrier for a week until ive got to pick them up, so excellent prompt service from planet fear and from the supplier who is beta climbing designs I thunk from Rotherham who checked them and accepted there was a fault with them and issued the new pair. I still havnt been able to get a reply from khatoola on there customer service contacts so would say go to the shop of purchase and try them if you have any bother.
Ta for posting all this, I have been watching the updates.
No problem I thought you and martyn would be keeping an eye on it. Hope it helps if you ever have a problem with yours
Your contract is with the shop that sold you the items.
If you have a warranty claim them the shop would be responsible for the replacement item, not the manufacturer.
Shops often find that good after-sales service and a little bit of publicity is very worthwhile!
Glad to hear you got them sorted and its good service from planet fear in Keswick. Have had a few things from them and its good to know the customer service is good if there is a problem with anything.
Thanks for that it makes sense after my experience although to provide a customer services no and email and not respond to customer or retailer is poor. Although saying that the middle man in this story beta climbing designs gave me a courtesy call at 530 tonight and a very helpfull lady called Miriam, I have no if anyone wants it with a problem khatoola pm me for it, and she said they've had 4or5 back this year with similar problems and said it's people using them for the wrong purpose, there designed for compact snow not mud rock ice and mixed ground thats the problem??? I explained ive used then on Lakeland ice coverd rock etc and was told there not designed for that.
Sorry jack yes they were excellent at planet fear couldn't have been more helpfull .
Mine did break - after about 1/ to 1/2 winters. i figured that they broke because of running on roads as well as the hills. Well you can't avoid some road running - and sometimes the ice wasn't thick enough for the spikes to bite, and the plates take a hammering.
They are quite expensive, and i was surprised since i thought they'd last a long time - However, I have tried cheaper versions and other types of spikes, and they've been completely hopeless - a ten quid pair off ebay only lasted for about three runs, so I would buy another pair of khatoolas, but maybe take them off on sections of run where there isn't much snow or ice.
I do find such kit essential in the winter, and so far the khatoolies seem to be the best i've tried, but they are expensive if they don't last too long.
