Almost regardless of the arguments for and against 29ers or 650 even, the 26 inch standard appears to be dead now and spares could become an issue if you plan to keep the new bike for very long. Spesh have a new Camber out I believe in 29 and that is a very well proven design at a reasonable price if you hunt around.
Just a note of caution about Canyon. I have one of their road bikes and it is wonderful to ride and the spec for the money is brilliant but the ordering process is not as easy as they make out and if you forget to spec a certain item and try to order it separately the prices are very high. A little German language skill pays dividends as I ended up having to ring them several times before my bike arrived and it took over a month - but, a great machine when I finally got it.
Indeed it may well be, but on this forum Flopsy took it as it was meant to be: ask herself questions as to why, what, where, what for etc etcShe has expressed the desire to spend a fair amount of her hard earned on a bike, best to get it right
And I am also not saying she should get a 29er, what works for me will not necessarily work for her... but I am giving her my experience so she can judge her own choices better

My tuppence worth - only you know what sort of riding you want to do, where you will do it and what your own capabilities and limitations are so always take others' recommendations in to account but don't base your choices on them solely, especially when it comes to wheel size (and I'd disagree with the comment about 26in being a dead wheel size, but hey, horses for courses...). Do your research via Google etc, draw up a short list of seemingly suitable bikes then get demo rides arranged - either find an LBS (local bike shop) that is running a demo day of a variety of bikes or find a shop that has the specific bike you want to try in its demo fleet. Test ride a few different bikes, then make your decision.

I am signed up to that forum, but I have only ever lurked I think. Too argumentative!

In fact, I was prompted to go and take a look. Largely because I wanted to check out their classified section. I have a track bike and associated race wheels/bars for sale and was wondering if there may be scope to put it on there.
I saw a thread about: some bikes just look right, so I have posted my 29er on there
