Spoke to support crew of Claire 10 mins ago and shes an hour down and couldn't see her on scarfell, but can't see that much of it any how to be honest. But its cold wet and miserable up there our lot said so good luck Claire and that concludes the commentary for today I'm off to Keswick for a kip

Claire's tracker is still showing her as moving...last check in at Wasdale was 10:50, down 1hr25 on the published eta.
That's really tough Daz!! I'm sure you've got it in you mate! IF I can get fit enough maybe I'll get a chance to support a wee bit next time. Later in the summer!?
I'll say this quietly in case I'm committing a sin.. but if anyone wants a tracker for a BG - PM me. Happy to loan for free.. it is truly the best test of this technology as well as runner.

Personal musings as a closet geek. Lot more buffered data on Claire's tracker than on Andy BG's last weekend - its the same unit. Guess weather has an influence on mobile signal, also maybe how the units are carried.

It was pretty grim up there. Daz did well to keep going as long as he did, I think I'd have baled out at Dunamil . The clag set in as soon as we got to the top of Steel Fell and it never lifted. Rain was steady, not torrential but enough to make it pretty unpleasant. We took the decision to call it a day half way up Sergeant Mann. Definitely the right decision as all 4 of us were starting to get pretty cold. After that it was a slow trek over to Harrison Stickle and down to Langdale where we shivered in the New Dungeon Ghyll until Manhar came and rescued us. Thanks Manhar.Originally Posted by Tahr

Was supporting Claire on Leg 2 - she went straight through Threlkeld 15mins up and I had to chase her down the road - took a while for the entire support to catch her going up Clough head, but make hay whilst the sun shines! Trying to rain at this point. Weather started coming in as we crossed over Sticks Pass and got worse over Helvellyn. We were losing little bits of time (to the splits I had written on my map from the DP schedule) on the summits with tougher uphill sections, but good flat/downhill pace, no nav blunders (nubbin between Dollywaggon and Nethermost anyone!) and a stormer up Fairfield (bang on split here) and Seat Sandal saw us into Dunmail maintaining the Threlkeld cushion (the tracker split suggests 20mins up, but I was carrying that and went ahead to place her orders!)
Passed Daz's crew starting the ascent of Fairfield as we were coming down, he looked OK and one of his support was wearing shorts! (and it normally takes drifting snow to get me into lycra!)
tracker carried in a bum-bag under my jacket and rucsac for the majority of leg 2. The 'error' leaving Keswick is actually Claire getting to the Moot Hall from the house!
Weather foul when I woke up in Keswick. One for Ducks wearing snorkels and in possession of an arc. Claire went straight through Wasdale just inside the DP schedule's 'absolute last time to even stand a chance of getting in under 24' time. Getting in under 24 willl require a superhuman effort, but no doubt she'll complete even if missing the 24.
you can't control the weather! time for some sleep before heading out to place orienteering controls!

Cheers for that ba-ba! It'd be great to see Claire finish in the conditions as per last week and APD! There should be a separate club for extreme weather completions!
The lad in shorts would be my mate Andy, being from north of the boarder he is a tough chap, although talking to him this morning he said even he was a little cold in the wind and rain last night.
