    Forest 5 - Thursday 19th July

Low key fell/trail run if any fancies running for a good cause this Thursday...

Macclesfield Harriers invite you to take part in the Forest 5 Charity Run on the picturesque tracks of Macclesfield Forest.
    7.30pm, Thursday July 19th 2007.

    • Entries on the night only
    • Parking and Registration from 6.00pm at Macclesfield Forest Visitors Centre, Trentabank, nr. Langley (SJ 961712)
    • Under no circumstances must cars be parked anywhere near the Leathers Smithy Pub. Race parking is 600 metres beyond.
    • Entry is by donation to St Ann’s Hospice which aims to improve the quality of life of those with life-threatening illnesses
    • Sorry, no prizes, we want as much as possible to go to our charity
    • The route is ~5.5 miles mostly on good quality forest tracks but there are some stepped boardwalks to negotiate
    • At one point there is a route choice; either stay on the dry firm track or to take a slightly shorter line across slippery grass (this might govern your selection of shoes)
    • Arrive in good time; the start is 10 minutes walk from registration.
    • Changing and toilet facilities are extremely limited.
After the race, runners and officials tend to gather in the St Dunstan Inn in Langley.

With the kind permission of United Utilities plc and with the support of the Peak National Park Rangers.

There's going to be quite a few Stockport Harriers coming to this one, as a warm-up for Shining Tor next week, so brace yourselves...

I've put some photos in the gallery on our club site... (some good and not so good ones I'm afraid....)

If anybody wants larger images PM me... I did say I'd collect a £2 donation to the hospice though if I send any high res ones out!

macc ladd - thanks for that - some great photos there. none of me, though, unfortunately (probably for the best!).

LOVELY race though - deserves to be a lot more popular imho

Macc lad don't know if you're interested but this race clocked out as 5.5 miles and 1436ft of climbing on a Garmin.

I don't feel so bad about coming last now!

Knock ten minutes off my time at the last attempt and still came chuffin' last!

    It's just not fair.

Don't worry. It's a tough race and no funrunners seem to have entered this year.
I bet you won't come last at Shining Tor on Wednesday. This will have been good practice.

Yeah I think it is called the "Forest 5, but more like 6".... so we know it's somewhere in between.
