I know what you mean. I tried leg 1 clockwise the other week for a "bit of fun" with no prior specific training". I'm not going to let on how long it took

Any pubs open early in Keswick? That's where he'll be

Sharon's tracker isn't updating anymore either but I think we've witnessed that before in the Scafell area. She's due in Wasdale any minute. Anyone got any news?

She was on the order of 45 min down before the tracker stopped. Still has time in hand on a23 schedule.

Morning everyone, just trying to catch up with events. Am I right that we aren't sure what's going on with Stolly and Gav?

Sharon down is she? Just looking at her trace ..... that's an odd piece of trackery around Bowfell!

You are indeed right Martyn, never known Stolly so quiet.

When were Stolly and Gav last seen? Can anyone confirm they are ok?

Re. Sharon's attempt and the BG in general, in isolation how difficult is Wasdale to Honister and Honister to Keswick? I've walked most of Honister to Keswick with my son when he was about 6 and I don't remember it being that difficult. Obviously, it's a totally different story after doing all the rest first and not having all day to do it.

Wasdale to Honister has some stiff steep climbs, the biggest being that from the valley to the summit of Yewbarrow. The climb up Great Gable is steep too, although not as long. The rest is just good fellwalking country - not easy but not desparate, as the Lakes ridges go.

Honister to Keswick is, as you recall, pretty easy, & is mainly simple to navigate too. There are climbs, but they are good underfoot & not too long. The descent of Robinson requires some route knowledge. The biggest problem I had with this section on my BG was descending the rockstep off Robinson: my knees wouldn't bend any more!

Hoping for good news from those who've been out on the hill this weekend...

Wasdale honister is the best part of the round IMHO
The combined climbs of yewbarrow and red pike are in a sense the crux of the round -
Steep and relentless they go on seemingly forever. I have supported and navved many round that leg, and that is where they seem to look worst, and are fighting the mental battle to keep going,

Whilst the rest of that section is rough and tough till green gable,Once the contenders get past pillar the contenders generally lighten up, and have a definite sense of having the back of the round broken, thevdescent from pillar a long easy down jog on grass, From green gable to end is just grassy undulation.

Ah, yes. That feeling where you look down and think "I can't jump and land with straight legs, I can't sit on the edge and and slip off 'cause I can't get down to ground level". Eventually you end up turning round, dropping on to your front and then slithering feet first on your front over the edge. How dignified.
