I've just been looking at a map and I was with the group that contoured across Cluther Rocks instead of taking the Pennine way and on to Kinder Low. At least I think thats where we got lost. I reckon we lost about 40\50 places as well. I remember being counted off the hill before as 96 but the next time I was 140 something!
A good race again in pretty awful weather again. Managed to not get lost by sticking to Julien once Tim had dropped me and I'd lost sight of his yellow jacket in the fog. Everyone getting lost made it interesting too as quicker runners who'd got lost were mixed in with everyone towards the end.
Pleased with 2:08 and 15th in really horrid weather and even more pleased that my dad, who fell badly on kinder, doesn't seem to have broken a rib after all.
Absolutely superb race. Well organised and great spirit. Thank you so much to the marshals, must have been pretty chilly up there.

I just can't wait to try it again to better my time now that I have a better idea of the route.

A cracking race - thanks to the marshalls who must have frozen their bits off up there, and a special thanks to the chap who got my mate and I (two outsiders from West Yorkshire) across to Edale Cross through the clag. I didn't clock his club colours - but since I couldn't see more than a few feet in front that's hardly surprising!
Loved my first Trog, which seemed to be an amalgamation of several shorter Kinder races. Weather turned out a bit worse than expected just for the race, but at least we could still run under control in the wind and we didn't get a sideways power shower like on Kinder Downfall race in April. Thanks to prior experience of the area my navigation went perfectly (even led others across part of the Kinder moonscape) and I felt strong and ran well pretty well to the end to finish in 2:43. I was expecting 3 hours plus. Result! Thanks to all the volunteers and marshals for freezing their bits off up there in flaming June for our enjoyment.

The hardest bit was dragging my teenage daughter out of bed to help me marshal on Mill Hill, but as the race is a fund-raiser for her Scouts I persuaded her she had an obligation! To be honest, though, I think she quite enjoyed it. (It also means she'll get free 'tuck' this week).Originally Posted by BritNick

You both did a great job. It was very wet and windy when I went past you both.
On a side note. There was a young gent who was not looking well when I went past him near Kinder Low trig point. I offerened him some food but he didn't take it. When I got into the scout hut after the race he was being wrapped up in a lot of coats and being feed a lot of food. I assume he was OK in the end. Can anyone confrim?

I passed him looking rather wet and miserable too (him not me). I was wet and happy :-)
I had to shoot off as soon as i'd finished because the guy I was with had to catch a train. I didn't change out of my wet clothes and just put a fleece on. I started shivering in the car on the way home and ended up pulling over, stripping off at the side of the road and eating my emergency Mars Bar. It funny how it can creep up on you.
