It's bloody ridiculous isn't it? Both Hull rugby league clubs resisted the change to those ridiculous American style names like 'Chicago Bears' and 'Trafford Tits' and their fans take the piss out of other clubs for the changes they have made.

Seriously, Hull FC and Hull KR are some of the only RL clubs who don't have a silly animal or whatever as part of their name. There's Saint Helens too and Warrington fans never wanted to change to "Wolves" because they already had the nickname "The Wire" which fans still use today, but the change was made. Madness.

Incidentally I've just seen Woodward at Chorlton Street bus station boarding an express to Liverpool ..... the signing of Leon Osman is back on if he can be guaranteed first team football, which I'm sure he can. :w00t:

Other clubs can only be forced to follow suit, otherwise all the cool-sounding animals will have been taken by the time it becomes commonplace. Imagine if your club was a late adopter and you had to follow the slugs or the sloths. There are so many football clubs in the UK, you could end up with some pretty obscure animals. Fans would have to develop chants to explain things about their animal.

I've given this some thought Noel and I can't make my mind up which would best suit our noisy, bitter neighbours, either; The Stretford Shite-hawks, The Chester Road Cheetahs or quite simply the Warwick Road W*nkers:w00t:
