Just received a pair of the Mk2 yesterday and will give them a quick test at lunch. Nothing too taxing as have Ben Nevis tomorrow. I weighed mine as they felt a bit heavy but I'm a size 11.5 and they weighed in at 400g exactly the same as my Crosslites and only 10g heavier than my XC's. Only a tiny bit heavier than Mudclaw 270 too and feel just as flexible as the others really. I'm hoping they'll stand up to the rigours of Skye.Originally Posted by Will.Race

I've done over 250 mile in my MK 2's and have to say they look almost as good as new!
If I have a criticism with them it is the fact that they don't hold my foot whilst cross contouring which can be uncomfortable. I did the last 15 mile of the SBU35 in them last weekend and they were great.

I just ordered my 2nd pair of the mk2s to go with the 2nd pair of clumpy mk 1s I recently bought. I got a pair of the originals last September for £30 and wore them as my main training shoe right through the winter. They are clumpy but as a cold weather slow-pace training shoe I found them OK. The uppers went after about 6 months (57 runs) and I replaced them with a pair of the mk2s, which have lasted all this summer. They now have holes in both sides of the uppers of both shoes but they still feel OK to run in so I'm still using them after 61 runs.
I've bought another pair of the mk1s (at £25) to clump through the winter in but have also ordered another pair of the mk 2s because they are such good value. The latter are much more supple than the mk1 and perform so well that I'd use them for fell racing, no problem.
The fact that they don't last particularly well is not really an issue to me. The cost represents about 50p per run and if you keep replacing them it means you have a newer shoe on your feet for more of the time. Lets face it, it's not a great idea to have a pair of beaten up but 'everlasting' shoes on your feet, with baggy uppers and a beaten-down midsole, is it?
I must say I'm a convert to More Miles. I have been a "life-long" Walsh fan but I have to agree with a clubmate who says they are "a young man's shoe" .. Perhaps I'll get another pair of PBs just for those (now rare) 'serious' races..
Done about 200 miles in them and they're pretty much as good as new. Had a few problems with the insole sliding about at first but swapped them for some crosslite ones and they're much better. Great grip, really comfortable and have stood up to everything I've thrown at them really. Felt a bit clumpy at first but after a week or so they softened up. Been up the Cuillin,red and black and all over really with no problems. Easily as grippy as mudclaws. A bargain. Did someone say they were bringing out a lighter version this year?
I have a pair of these and I have to say for the price they're amazing. quite comfy, amazing grip I've run up steep thick mud without slipping. They may not be perfect but I can but 3 pairs for the price of some other brands.
Do you mean lighter than the Cheviot2? If so that'd be great. The Cheviot2 is already a much lighter and more 'responsive' shoe than the original Cheviot though. With a slightly more hard-wearing upper they'd be brilliant!
I heard a rumour of a lighter weight shoe called Pennine as a sort of alternative to the Inov 8 X Talon, but cant find anything about them anywhere.
Anyone in the know ?

I'm a complete convert to MoreMiles Cheviots as training shoes. I'll stick with Mudclaws in muddy races, but the Cheviots are great for deep muddy footpaths, and I suspect the soles won't wear down as fast as Mudclaws.
It's nice to have a cheap alternative to Inov-8s.
