    Here are some pics at the half way point - up and down. Happy snaps on a pocket Olympus with no viewfinder - must get something more modern ... larger files available by e-mail.

    Thanks Stanners.....it just always feels like such a long way after you've run down the road! Well done to you too, you had a good run.

    Another beltin Ben Nevis weekend over and done. Thanks to all involved, especially for ordering the nice weather and the technical t-shirt. Took a tumble on the descent not far from the summit, thanks to Keswick's Lee Newton who back tracked to see if I was ok. That's the spirit of fellrunning, we all look out for each other. Thankfully just badly bruised my hands and right leg, pleased with finishing in sub 2hrs.
    The usual crack around town after the presentation with plenty of familiar faces enjoying a few well earned drinks. Karen Crabtree was sporting a bandaged knee after receiving stitches. Karen's a tough Yorkshire lass and will be back in no time.
    Roll on next year for what is one of the highlights of the year. Special mention to young Sam tosh, finished 2nd in is first Ben race, well done Sam.

    What a bloody tough race! My first one and will certainly be my last! Haha. Being injured in the 4 weeks leading up to the race didn't help and a summer of 5k road racing wasnt the best preperation in hindsight.

    Got to the summit in I think 23rd place but my descending skills and ravaged legs put me back to 42nd place and my first and last Ben completed in 1.55. What a fantastic event though and I had an absolute great time all weekend. Definitely the most satisfying race I've done.

    Hiya Caren, hand pretty swollen but should be reet. Taking full advantage of Alison's offers of assistance, to the point of pissing her off. Sorry love you'll have to drive, make the tea, do the dishes, Hoover, clean up....etc. It's only a matter of time till she snaps and tells me to man up and bloody get on with it!!! Take care, rest the knee and let Paul fetch and carry.

    Great day at the Ben Nevis race, weather was kind with clear views at the summit struggled on the descent over the rocks but completed it again for the second time and beat last years time.

    My first attempt and thoroughly enjoyed it too. Organisers seemed to have gone to a lot of effort what with pipe band and everything, also loads of support. So anyone thinking of giving a go, do so, just 2 words of advice:
    (1) wear something as grippy as possible as you will need it coming down;
    (2) don't take the sleeper up, unless you fancy doing it on the back of 3 1/2 hrs sleep
    Given (2), I was quite happy with my 2.34!

    an example of how to run a fantastic event. Great organisation, great whiskey and shirt and a medal , certificate and results out printed that night.
    I raise my hat and glass to the Ben Nevis Race association!
