out of respect for a friend who had recently died, I wanted to wear mainly black. I did not think anyone would be so petty but never mind, each to there own.

Maybe, if you consider people didn't know that's what you were doing then their reasonable question doesn't come across as petty. You have been known to wear a few "costumes" before.

I'll be running in the relay for the first time this year and will be doing the navigation leg. Can anyone give me an idea of what to expect. Three questions...
How many checkpoints are there likely to be (or does this change every year)?
Can you visit the checkpoints in any order?
What kind of navigation is it? Will I be looking for stream junction's and small ring contour's or trig points and path junctions (or both)?

    Thanks.

    1. 6/7 or so.. but I think it varies..
    2. Normally a set order I think, but has been a traditional score style.
    3. Normally pretty easy nav, route choice was the main issue really. The route is normally designed so each leg has 1,2,3 alternatives. Normally junctions, re-entrants, summits, junctions, gates. Always fairly identifiable features. Actual navving the route is normally pretty easy, its doing it fast which is the hard part.

    Thanks for that.

I'm much better at route choice Nav than micro Nav. Especially under pressure!

    Looking forward to it.
