    Re: Todays Movie

Blair Witch Project was on the other night, always a film to divide opinion. Lots of people not fans, and can be quite strong, but think much of that might be down to the incredible hype generated on its release and the inevitable backlash, Heather Donahue's snot filled apology scene, and the Americanisms that they come out with in their dialogue. Always liked it, thought it was one of the best final scenes in a film, and that the whole premise worked pretty well.

Robinson Crusoe (1997) (the stuff you watch on Netflix )

Pierce Brosnan as the eponymous hero with a very dodgy Scottish accent up there with Dick Van Dyke's cockney accent and Sean Connery's Irish accent. They played a bit fast and loose with the story as in the book he is on the island for 28 years not the 6 in the film. I don't think that woman would have waited for him had he been away 28 years. Friday had a kinder fate in the book than the film until Defoe knocked him off in the sequel of course. That's an hour and half of my life I wont get back

I think it'll take me 28 years to read Robinson Crusoe, I've put it down YET again. This time for Hops And Glory, which is proving a pleasing random charity shop purchase.

Started off watching The Godfather (for the first time !) & got bored. So put Searching For Sugar Man on, about Sixto Rodriguez, which was excellent !

Can't get 'Searching for Sugar Man' on Netflix so that probably means its a good film/documentary

The first one. I must be the only person who holds this view !

Alf, SFS is a documentary about a long lost American singer/songwriter from the early 70's. Terrific it was too.

Captain Phillips. Incredibly tense and keeps winding up the tension all the sweaty way. You could have heard a pin drop at the end....never felt a full cinema so cowed to utter silence and stillness. Did they say they just picked up some real Somalis for this? If so, the 'profession' of acting is dead!
