What's it mean for folks who don't do that road running or them cross-countries? Will LDWA entry fees go up? With Dave Woodhead start charging for his biscuits? We ought to be told...

There's 2 points of significance to fell running forumites.

    1. The FRA clearly had a deal which members partook in where they could apply for an EA road license through their membership of the FRA.
That allows members of fell only clubs like Bowland, Pennine, CVFR to race on the roads - and believe it or not some do.
I think these clubs and others opt out of the EA scheme for their athletes.

    2. EA is chasing revenue. They are coming under pressure from the member clubs, some of whom are paying several thousand pounds a year in, to stop loopholes (which point 1 is an example of).
So this is most likely the first move in something that may have a much wider implication going forward, such as fell clubs having to affiliate their members in the same way as the do for T&F, Road and XC.

So by all means guys, come back and do your Cannon & Ball act, but it does matter to some.

WP, did you hear Question Time today on the radio? Those jokers running the country and having a knockabout for fun worry me. TB is on the increase. Malnutrition is on the up. 'Rewards' for FTSE 100 companies went up 14% last year and you're fretting about folk having to pay a couple of quid extra to run round a park

Is the details of the consultation on the England Athletics website. Just had quick browse through notes for North West and for Yorkshire consultation events, FRA/fellrunning not mentioned

What's EA? It's the Evangelical Alliance, obviously. I'm a member already.

Streuth mate, you get uppity when I do political!! I've been trying to behave myself but it looks like I'll have to get down to the newsagents and book my daily Guardian again.
