I once ran an ultra alongside a woman who carried, and regularly swigged from, a bottle of sauerkraut. She said it was brilliant. To me, it bore too close a resemblance to fresh vomit.

Just starting to get my bag sorted for tomorrow, & then I thought ... are there water stations at any of the CPs? Or is it forage from streams/carry your own water? It's too far to want to go round without water.

No formal drinks stations - there are a few of streams if you are happy to drink from them (I have always been happy to do so with no ill effects). One at CP3 before you start the climb - the one you cross after Geronimo, another before the climb up Pendle Moor to Judith and Alans cairn, one at the bottom of the "big dipper". I will be on CP 10 at the Trig and will have a limited supply - but beware it will have come from the well just to the right of the route most people take up the last climb.
I've been to Tesco's and will also have a supply of flapjack and jelly babies - but it will probably be too late by the time you get to me!
Have a good run everyone - weathers looking good so navigation should not be an issue (sorry Mapper)

Would it be frowned upon to get my Mrs to meet me at the bottom of Geronimo with a drink?

Thanks AR. Streams it is. As for Geronimo, Judith & Alan's cairn & the big dipper, I suppose I'll recognise them when I get there. Actually I'm pretty sure where you mean by looking at the map - I take it Geronimo is the steep descent to CP4, & the cairn is either the one before CP6 or the one at CP8. I first climbed Pendle over 50 years ago, but this is the first time I've raced on it.

Graeme - I dont see why anybody would object to your wife handing you a drink, I dont think it is against the rules!

Splatcher - you are correct re Geronimo Judith and Alans cairn is just before CP6 (the one that has moved this year), & big dipper is the drop down to CP7 & climb to CP8 - you will certainly see why it's called that within CLEM.

Unfortunately I've been hit by some weird 'flu virus and can't make it tomorrow, am highly pissed-off. I'll get in touch with Kieran right now, that'll be one more person on the reserve list happy.

p.s. on the subject of cramp, I was reading a thread the other day on some cycling forum and the guy swore by indigestion tablets like Tums or Rennies to keep cramp at bay, apparently it really works.

    Don't understand that ....
