Fergie was always in for a kicking this year by the Danberts... if Moyes did well.. it showed how Average fergie was.. if Moyes did badly he chose wrong...

The fact is we have 20 league titles.. 12 of which (I think).. or was it 13? came under Fergie..

I met a scouser last year who reckoned the worst thing ever to happen to Man U was Fergie.. that he saddled them with debt after his row with the horse owners... its laughable..

Correct Iain, this is a very good post.

There will be no knee-jerk overreactions of panic, petulant shrieks of 'sack him!', spoilt demands for instant-success from me.

I expected the ABU nation and the likes of Danbert on here to latch on with glee at any opportunity to prematurely stick the boot in at the earliest sign of problems, but our own support know better.

We've spent the last couple of decades (rightfully) scoffing and sneering at other clubs' distasteful penchant for sacking their managers at the first hurdle, and the last few years (rightfully) mocking the overnight lottery 'successes' of the plastic clubs. So at the first sign of trouble, we must not turn into everything that we've historically stood against.

Nobody expected a seamless transition, and I accept that things have gone even worse than we'd originally envisaged, but we are United, we will not react to it by turning into whiney little spoilt brats. There's work to be done, and with a bit of time and support we may reap some serious benefits, just like we did with Ferguson.

Moyes is learning the ropes at this level; all this talk of tactics and playing styles at Everton is meaningless, as he will have to adapt himself to the requirements of Manchester United, and that will naturally come with some teething problems. However, if he adapts successfully, which will take time, then it will all be worth it. He may well crash and burn, but I'd rather give him a fair shot. Let's see what he does in January, and see where we end up in May - then we can make a fair judgement call.

What tickles me is this constant reference to this mystifying 'Transitional period.'

What you really mean is, the new manager of the same team that coasted the league last season, is losing games hand over fist and is really a bit shit.

Cue more 'Gelling time' and 'Bedding in' quotes in a frantic attempt to calm twitching arses.

Martinez is going through a similar 'Transitional period.' It doesn't seem to be affecting him too much

    Transition...?

I could take the defeat to Bayern as they were patently the better side. In all our other defeats, we (at the very least) held our own against the opposition.

Carry on as we are and we can forget the league this year which is a shame as on our day we are the best team in the league. Non-the-less if we get top four, win a cup , and have a decent run in the champs league, it wont be too bad for a transitional season

Man Utd should have hung onto Pogba. He's just the player they need in midfield right now.

I agree.. but he was turned by his agent.. Ravel as well.. but he was a bad egg and sometimes you just have to get rid.. class player who they protected and kept out of prison but you cant risk his influence.

I tink in Janusaj we have a class player.

Danbert.. yeah Martinez has done well... similar to how Moyes did.. yet you reckon he's terrible..

We have class... we dont sack after 15 games... we're not a City who expect to win the league season in season out and sack the manager for merely finishing second.. a disgusting club.

Still only 8 points between Utd and 2nd place in the table. Only Arsenal are really getting comfortably clear of them.

I see, this great team are now playing for second but are 3 wins away.

Dream on. Top 4 should be your real goal and you will struggle to achieve that.
