Alf if you want another copy quickly you can also down load the leaflet from my website http://everythingoutdoors.co.uk/hypo...e-to-download/

    !
The thread you mention was started last year by Derby Tup, not three years ago.
It has a 'sticky' on it in the Health section, and so is permanently at the top of the list of threads there, so it is not lost from sight (sic) forever.

That's as maybe, but moving and merging the thread killed it stone dead - nobody has posted on it since then. Which is a pity considering the importance of the subject.

Errr....there have been nineteen posts since yours, the most recent of which was just over a fortnight ago.

I agree about the importance of the subject, as do all forumites I would think, hence the popularity of that thread.

Just want to add that after all the discussion the version of the rules as they appear in the book seems a lot better than some of the early drafts we saw. Thanks to everyone involved with it, not just for doing it in the first place but also for listening to some of the feedback. I dont want to restart the whole debate, I understand some discussions are still ongoing, but I do want to acknowledge the work thats been done so far.

Yikes!! - that made me look!!

But, no - only one comment (Kanga's) has been added since it was moved. And, yes, you're quite correct - it was remarkably popular ... before it was moved!

I was referring to the popularity of the original hypothermia thread in the Health section. 115 posts, 11,163 views and counting.

Surely if advice is being given on an issue like this, then it makes most sense to gather it in one single thread rather than having it spread all over the forum in different threads and different sections.

I have never been noted for handing out lollipops but Mark was one of the (few) people who, as requested, emailed me with civil and intelligent comments. It was noted by the team.

It is a function of consultancy exercises that not all suggestions made by everybody can be adopted, not least because many are contradictory. The new Safety Requirements are better but not perfect, no one can be clearer about that than me, but they represent the biggest change in fell running safety in three decades.

Safety issues in fell running will never be the same again. The new Safety Requirements are the first step on a programme that the FRA Safety, Rules and Equipment sub-committee is now considering for future years with Race Organisers-the most important people in fell running-playing a major role.

Some of the Officers on the FRA Committee have been under immense pressure during this year of the Brian Belfield Inquest: Madeleine Watson in her first year as Chair for one and Andy Butler, in his first year as Fixtures Secretary, for another. Neither expects many thanks, that is not the way it works in fell running, but their reward has been to receive the beautiful blue crisp new Calendar/Handbook for 2014 knowing that for 2013 their job is done; and done well.

A big thank you to all involved. The handbook was a very nice early xmas present.

Regarding the new rules. Thanks again, it is appreciated. Some folk forget that; not only is the world around us always changing but that nothing can ever be perfect.

Good to see the Hypothermia leaflet. A shame it repeats the old myth about 112 being somehow better than 999 - they're exactly the same.
There's a reference to "rule 9 kit" - but none of the various section 9s in the handbook seem to have anything to do with kit. Is this something that changed with the new safety rules, but not in time to correct the leaflet? Either way - can someone point me at the appropriate list?
