Good grief...second ultra, seemed tougher than L50. Last two hours for plodders like me were a bit soggy! Never again. ...til next Dec
Magnificent run from young Joe Mann in 5th.
You may remember he was the lad who did all the munros in one go last summer then did his BG in the autumn. Then had a wild time out on the Ramsey this summer.
He might turn out to be quite a handy runner...

Well done Toreador, and well done to everyone who survived that. It turned a lot worse at the end than I was expecting. Gale-driven rain with temperature well above freezing feels worse than minus 10 and calm. The chill factor can get scary.
Planning to enter this next year and may stay on to spend Xmas there too...anyone know af any nearby self catering accommodation (must have a log burner / real fire!)

In 2012 we stopped at the George Starkey Mountain Hut (we run past it on the event) and this was booked thru the race org but this wasn't avail this year for this year......which was a shame as it did indeed have a roaring log fire (i know as it was me chucking the logs on the fire ;-)) It's self catering too.Originally Posted by Murt

I'd stop at the George Starkey hut again next yr if avail........it looked empty when we ran past at the weekend. Not sure what the sketch is re: booking it privately - but here's a link if that's any help to anyone.

Maybe the upside down caravan in the field at Patterdale will have righted itself and will be taking bookings for next year!
I probably should not have done this as been suffering with plantar faciitus for last two months so done very little training but a great physio helped to at least get me mobile so well pleased with 9.23 as this was only my second ultra after doing L50 this year. but... learnt a lot for the L100 next year especially to eat more
definitely a glass ankle now so not sure if i have put myself back but this was on the list to do and you know how obstinate runners can be lol.
and Liverpool top (at least for the next 3 hours)

Good race but I struggled for grip on the wet grassy sections. I wore my Hoka Rapa Nui shoes which were very comfy but provided little or no grip in the mud and the on the wet grass. My Mudclaws would have been much better for the mud and grass but I doubt I would have been able to run in them for the whole race. There is always a trade off I know but I was wondering what shoes others wore. I noticed quite a few wearing the Salomon Fellraiser. Did anyone wearing these suffer any problems?
mudclaw and sealskinz combo...wet but warm feet...
