As I understand it the responsibility for safety is with the individual, as no claims are made against organisers of events the ultimate safety is with that participant. I don't know the full details of the scheme and find it difficult to get my head around (like, I don't need liability
car insurance?). But anything that prevented all this c**p going on in fell running, wouldn't be a bad thing.
Whatever the details are Sport NZ has a publication "Risk Management of Events" http://www.sportnz.org.nz/Documents/...ent-ff-WEB.pdf
which is par for the course. It looks as if your reasonable request will go unanswered Noel.
Individuals on the committee seem to think (and have expressed opinions as such) that whatever is said on social media is "irrelevant". Be interesting to see what they say when, God forbid, there's another accident which warrants an inquiry and the prosecuting solicitor discovers pages and pages of concerns voiced by reasonable members of the fell running community, with no obvious response from the FRA.....
So can you share their answers with us Noel?
I'm yet to have a full conversation, so no.
And it may be that these conversations are best done in confidence, so I'm not promising anything.
As I've said on here, I think a simple statement saying why they're doing what they're doing would be helpful. Hopefully this will allay people's concerns. I appreciate that there may be some on the committee who simply favour sorting things out and not getting involved in lengthy forum discussions.
