Thanks fellas. Ill pop my flyroc's on. I tried a pair of x talons on in the shop and they were too narrow for me 😞. I could do with a light pair of shoes.

I reckon now, that the left of the wall is about a minute quicker.. Its much more runnable than the right hand side and much more direct than going via the cross

I totally agree Dan. The other interesting route choice is at the Baildon Trig point. There's usually a little split there too.

    Evening all,

Debut attempt for me next week - bit sketchy on Ilkley Moor but I'm hoping, depending on conditions I may be able to follow someone! My major concern is West Chevin Forest - can anyone give me any tips on the correct direction?

Lets hope we get some freezing weather this week, its an absolute bog bath on the moors!

Richard, worth a review of the thread to get a handle on the trickier sections covered previously such as the conduit crossing on Ilkley moor and the cheeky ginnel in Menston.

When you get almost to the bottom of West Chevin Road there's a brown sign at the bottom of the hill, head straight up the hill (don't miss the self-clip) then bear right slightly until you get to the steps. When up the steps head 'up-left' roughly on the diagonal until you reach the path then bung a right down to the check-point.
Think that's right? Hope that's useful?!

thanks for the reply, though. much appreciated!

yes it was. i think it was one field to the west of where it should have been. so when you'd expect to find it as you turn right (east) towards ilkley we needed to go left on a little out and back. let's hope it's in the right place this time.
