It's in the managerial rule book to talk up your opposition. Phrases like "there are 10 clubs that could win the premiere league" and "there are no easy games.." are commonplace.

I would love to see a manager say "I think they'll work hard but we believe we're a better team, so I think we'll win by two clear goals".

They do it in cricket: Glenn McGrath "I predict a 5-0 whitewash".

Now pelligrini gets involved... so January transfers are wrong... unless your City or Arsenal..

‘United are getting a very good player, but personally I do not agree that a transfer like this can happen in the middle of the season,’ he said. ‘I do not think a player should be allowed to go from one club to another in the same league in January.

    No, no, no!

If you're talking about the fans, then I guess you can have the benefit of the doubt. They've been well and truly shafted in all this, caught in the middle of a battle between warring factions.

However, the club doesn't deserve it. For all that has gone on there (and you can find plenty if you research it), they should NOT be in the football league right now. The authorities have bottled it at every opportunity and, when presented with clear evidence of wrongdoing, which should have resulted in sanctions, pretty much stated that their main aim was to keep Coventry City going at all costs. Funny how they didn't take this view with Chester, Aldershot, Scarborough etc.

And one more myth I'm getting fed up with - once again, the commentators last night kept going on about how it was a miracle what Coventry had achieved this season with a team that's all youngsters and a budget of nearly zero. Wrong! In Murphy, Moussa, Fleck and Clarke, they have 4 established players in the spine of the team who, between then, will be earning more than the full 11 of most teams in this league. On crowds of 2,000 or less, tell me how that works with Financial Fair Play?!?!

(by the way, as balance, I think Pressley is doing a cracking job there in difficult circumstances, has got them playing some lovely football and is definitely a manager for bigger and better places at some point)

City couldn't resist teasing the United fans, could they? Don't they know City always score at least 4?
    Apologies to Watford, nice try!

Swwop, there are two problems with your statements:-

    1) City always score on average 4 goals at their home fixtures this season.

    2) Trys are scored in Rugby, not football.

    I've got problems Hamish?!!
    Who is Swwop?!!
You don't always score your average, it's an average! (PhD in Maths came in useful there!)
    Tries are scored in rugby!

Well you just can't make it up!!!
Whilst in waterstones passing time I came across a book that I couldn't beleive the cheek of....
" no glossing over" how football cheated Leeds united. Could this be the same club who won their few tropheys by bribing, cheating and lying they're way through their entire history? Still town are a bigger club.
