[Daz, a quiet word in your ear. Hold off on updating the table with Rob's results so I can be top of the premier league for a few days. Thankyou please.]

Good results, Rob. With results like that I predict a win for you come the end of the year. (How DO you get round Rombald's Stride in under 3 hours? You don't wear a heart rate monitor, by any chance? I'd be interested to know what your average heart rate is for that workrate.)

Thanks Nick. I had a good one.

I'm quite happy to share my secret with you, as soon as I find out what it is!

Although, to be honest it's probably a few things, I've changed lots in the last year. I'm much more consistent with my training, I put two hard club sessions in every week without fail unless I'm racing in the next few days (I ran a hard fartlek on the Tuesday before Rombalds but missed the Thursday session) and I run 6 days a week. I've also cut refined sugar out of my daily diet and will only eat it occasionally so my diet is a lot cleaner (I used fruit bars for Rombalds). Finally, I think I'm starting to trust my body more and this confidence is a great thing to spur you on.

HR wise, I've used a monitor before but not recently. I expect it would be in the 170's or something like that but I've always been a high beater (max is around 205) so it's difficult to draw any conclusions from that. These days I run to feel. I've previously raced 10ks and had an average HR of over 190bpm!

I think you've just told us your secret, Rob. Loads of training, commitment and good diet. Good for you. I've discovered it makes a difference. I was 10 minutes slower this year than last, and that was without the out-and-back detour. Biggest difference this year was that I wasn't running to work every day like I was last year, and I never train. Horses for courses I suppose.

The effect on my heart rate was that it was faster this year than last, for a slower time. It averaged 165 and peaked at 176. I can average 172 on a shorter, more intense fell race and peak at 182.

    Sorry for the delay, but...

    Hebden 22 winner: 3.04

    Me: 5.31

    Think that's 20 points.

With the BG in mind, training is in hand, so later in the year I may end up with a better show of points. It helps if you show up at the start with suitable shoes on too

    Cheers

Just get hold of the overall winner's time & your own, then go to Daz's latest league table post. There's a link at the bottom to the calculator.

daz can I claim 62 points for the Hebden- marginally past the cut off date but have been trying to figure out how to calculate it.
Also want to claim AA but will need to ask Nick for clarification of the winners time! Winner 3 43. Me 4 38 so 75 points please.

Well done Karen, and welcome to the league.

Well, I think that was the biggest difference between my time and the fastest time at Anglezarke since I took up running seriously. How he got round in 3:43 in those conditions I'll never know. How long will it be before they put flagstones and a hand rail up Great Hill? Bog and lively breeze warrant them.
My time was 4:45, so 72 points please, Daz.

My injury delayed season may be about to start, a couple of runs and my leg/knee is not too bad. Might managed Windy Hill on the weekend, although I heard Rob Hope is going so wont be a good points haul.
