I'm the same
my Mark 1's separated after about 300 miles
just got some Mark 2's which I haven't christened yet
got half a size up (10.5 cf 10) and think that'll be fine
hoping to get a bit more than 300 miles out of them...

If you think of it in terms of miles run per pound spent:- 300 miles for £35 means that for some of the more expensive brands and models you would need to be clocking up best part of 1000 miles - anyone got there with the likes of mudclaws, etc?

My personal experience:
More Mile Cheviot Mark 2: 110 miles until huge holes in the uppers made them useless (admittedly mine seem to have fared particularly badly!)
Mudclaw 300s: 465 miles and counting. Uppers are still fine, reckon they'll only get retired when the studs wear down too much.
Both used for the same type of running over the same terrain. So surprisingly Inov-8 emerge as better value my case, despite the scary initial cost...

This is very similar to my experience - my first foray into More Miles - bought a pair of Mark 2 end of Oct - by end of Dec massive holes appeared in the uppers where they flex at the toes. Useless after approx 160 miles. I too have reverted to Innov - generally the uppers do last longer - it's just that once the studs wear you cant resole like you used to be able to do with Walsh's.

I had to abandon Walsh's because they didnt offer enough protection on rocky terrain for my delicate feet!!

That's interesting stuff and i will keep a close eye on my MM Cheviot Mk 2s. So far, 80 miles in, they are spot on in terms or wear, comfort and grip. If they fade at 300, I think that's an ok £30 and an excuse for a fresh pair. If mudclaws are three times the cost and last three times as long, the MM option is arguably better because you get a fresh shoe twice rather than a slowly deteriorating shoe with worn studs.

When I bought my More Miles from Pete Blands, Jon Broxap told me to stick some Shoe Goo around the flex point before using them. Of course I didn't! One of them has split now, so I've bought some Shoe Goo and applied it to both shoes. We'll see what happens.

Overall I'm happy with them though.

I bought some thinking its worth a gamble for £30. It didn't pay off though. Yes they grip very well but you can see where they have saved money. The soles are very thin and if you end up on rough rocky terrain your feet will feel like someone's spent an hour hitting your soles with a baseball bat!
Like others have reported, the uppers split at the crease at the base of the toes after only 80 miles. I'd rather spend the extra for Mudclaw 300's and have 100% confidence every time I go out.

Oh no I bought a pair and am trying them out at Ilkely this Sunday! Mind you its only 5 miles so I can't imagine I can wear them out that quickly

Now that's interesting. I've bought a couple of pairs and I'm loving them but, yes, I agree that on rough, rocky terrain, I can feel stones poking through sometimes and it's painful. However, having bought a pair of the newer Inov8 Mudclaws, I can definitely say that the MoreMiles are nowhere near as bad as the Inov8 in that respect.

So far, I'm very happy with the MMs and I'll probably be buying a couple of new pairs in the near future.What I do like is that they seem ok on a variety of surfaces, be that open hillside or forestry track. I'm reckoning they should be quite good for the Lairig Ghru race in June.

I have a pair of cheviots which I bought before I went away, not used yet but have a wide fit - which is great for me as I bust out the sides of everything else - will be running out in them soon. A decent price too, I have no idea how some people manage to buy and use so many running shoes, way too expensive. I use moremile sock which are the best I have had, beating all the other "fell running" socks for longevity and comfort.

Guess Moremile are a bit like Alpkit, manufacturing to their own name and selling direct. It makes sense once they build up a customer base.

Big hole appearing on the flex point of mine after 64 miles!! That's a new record! Admittedly they have been soaked since I got them, but still...

The problem is (and why its not the same for everyone) that the specific length of my toes mean the flex at exactly the point the rand ends, so that flexing, wet material has just been grinding against the relatively sharp end of the rand. If the rand were wrapped round all the way to the MM logo, then I reckon they would be fine.

Talking of Alpkit, I wish they would bring back their Jeanius Jeans!
