It uses a 'Streetcar named Desire' as the main skeleton of the plot line. It has a couple of escapees from HBOs 'Boardwalk Empire' (the 'Kowalski' character and the dentist) but it took me a couple of minutes to clock Sally Hawkins an excellent British Actress (Made in Dagenham/ Happy-Go-Lucky)playing Ginger. I can see why Cate Blanchett got the oscar but there was some excellent support for her.
Buy me enough good wine and I will expound on la politique des auteurs at length, not that Woody Allen helps there, but Cate Blanchett was brilliant as the right actress in the right part with the right script and the right Director (same person) whereas Alec Baldwin was the wrong actor etc etc.

So three cheers to the Casting Director, the unsung hero/heroine (s) of the movie business. What? Who?

That's another on my list to see. It sounds good and I am a big fan of Cate Blanchett. Its date night tonight and we are off to see The Grand Hotel Budapest at the Curzon in Ripon. Really looking forward to it (and some good grub beforehand).

Saw The Grand Budapest Hotel last night and really loved it. Ralph Fiennes was a gem! I'd like to see it again, there will be all sorts of little details you'd see that you missed the first time around.

The secret in their eyes. Argentinian film with subtitles. Very good. Part thriller, part drama.

Some lovely artistic bits without getting all arty for the sake of it.

I think it's still available on the BBC i-Player.

Its good alright, though surprised it won best foreign film, they usually like the touching drama stuff.

Thought the ending a bit stretched.

Finally watched 'Man of Steel' and I was a bit underwhelmed to be honest. I know its supposed to be an action film but most of the dialogue was really bad even for an action film. Maybe I have seen too many Superman films and am getting bored?

Argo is certainly worth watching; it is based on a true story related to the Tehran hostage crisis. If you don't look up the plot then you'll be in for some entertaining late-70s/early-80s surprises.
