I second the thoughts of Barny and nippersmith. My first Fellsman and we couldn't have asked for better conditions. My feet felt like tenderised steak by the end! I wish I had cut my toenails because then, my shoes wouldn't have felt like they were full of razor blades at the end. Also good to meet Stolly at last after enjoying his blog and pictures for many months. Hope you had a good one.
We were very lucky with our grouping at the end. Really good to meet you Andy, Gary and Ian. Gary, your expert nav, especially over Buckden Pike was a real bonus. I wasn't looking forward to the grouping but I think it topped off what was an excellent day all round.
Finally, I am in awe of the volunteers who were, without exception, happy friendly and on top of their game. I especially don't envy the two guys in sleeping bags on top of Great Whernside who didn't even have the luxury of a tent to keep them warm overnight. Hats off!
