Anyone doing the Malhamdale Meander this weekend?
Hello Redeaston - yes I'm planning to be there tomorrow. It's just up the road for me so no excuse not to, plus as stolly says it's a great route. The weather forecast isn't looking brilliant but hopefully it won't be as character-building as it was for last year's Meander. Have a good run if I don't bump into you tomorrow or work out who you are.
Hi Martin. I guess it was you I was talking to just before the start when debating if we should wear jackets or not.
Weather made it tough in places but like you said it's a great route. Hopefully I can do it again some time with less rain so I can see the views better. 3:28 for me.
yes that was me - and it never occurred to me to ask whether it was you I'd swapped messages with - obviously too preoccupied with the jacket/no jacket issue..... you and the other two front runners were flying and that must have been as quick a time as there's been for a fair few years. I had one of those runs that always felt like a bit of a battle, but was surprised to end up getting round as fast as I ever have - 3.40/3.45ish. I reckon it's 5-10 mins faster on a decent day with less wind and dry underfoot. that's two pretty poor years in a row for weather now, so next year I'm sure is guaranteed sunshine - maybe see you next time round.
I'm all packed for the valleys 100 tomorrow. What better way to spend a bank holiday weekend than running 100 miles through old Welsh mining towns in the rain! Brilliant, anyone else coming?
Rod Hull is walking the double, 200 miles and 30,000ft is a good stroll!
He's currently 70 miles into the first round (he has some helpers for company) in fairly crap conditions. He is a tough lad.
That was interesting. 14 hours of rain which cleared to drizzle and showers.
Rod completed his 200 miles within the time, a fantastic effort showing great mental and physical toughness on a challenging course in horrible conditions. He certainly did it the hard way.
200 miles is a f*** of a long way with an emu.
