Things evolve as always, but I think it's more or less the same. Anyone with a viewpoint that is anywhere to the right of Polly Toynbee is slagged off in a quite viscous and nasty way.
I've been on the forum for 7 years and it's been just the same.
It's not because the majority on the forum are like that, it's because of a prejudiced minority.

It's one reason why there are so many readers of the forum who don't post.

Yeah the forum nowadays is a concentrated mix of fascists and fell running weirdos like me .

It's becoming a very boring place for an argument about safety, football and politics with a few interesting fell running topics from time to time. Many forumites who bang on about these things don't even run in the fells as far as I can tell!

    I don't think thats true..

I do agree UKIP and their supporters should have a view but when that is encouraging hate and pushing ignorant misinformed views then they should be refuted... if they disagree, argue back... you have, you've been making a case about how trade can work. But I'm not sure those who say we should stop all immigration have...

Where's CL when we need him? I seem to remember an argument along the lines of: all political parties are prejudiced against certain sections of society.

Is our forum a microcosm of that? Poor WP being victimised due to his right-wing views?

What right wing views are they exactly Noel? I actually think that this right wing / left wing is a load of clap trap. In some areas I would be seen as right wing and others left.
Faced with what we have for example, going in to the next election I would have bringing the railways back in to public ownership as a policy.
My best friend is a communist and he has a long history of political involvement and been seen on the picket lines with the miners as well as chasing Jack Straw and Condoleezza Rice down the M62.
But it's surprising when we chew the cud how close we are on many issues.

I'm not right wing, my best friend's a communist! Sounds like something you'd hear on a comedy show.

The reason there are no convincing arguments from the UKIP lot on here is because UKIP as a party are not making any arguments, they're making scapegoats.

They take a problem and they point a finger at a small group of people.

It's a simple answer to a complicated problem, and simple answers make simple people feel comfortable.

Unfortunately simple answers are rarely correct.

Those people who don't want more foreigners coming here would do well to pick up a history book and learn why those foreigners are coming here.

I didn't really have you in mind Iain when I said that. More people like Stolly who just likes to dip his toe in an argument, abuse a few people and then slink off again.

Danbert doesn't want to listen to any counter arguments because he's so entrenched in his position already.

Isn't that what you're doing added to a fair amount of verbal abuse? At least this latest post is a little more sensible and without the inflammatory language, but you haven't really had anything to say apart from slagging off anyone who may have been inclined to vote for UKIP.

    Who did you vote for?
Are their policies all clear and well thought out?
Have they got any raving loonies or perhaps even criminals within their ranks?
Are they racist, sexist and homophobic free?
Are they tolerant of religious views?

Wouldn't it be better to give out your positive message and try and make the case for what you stand for, because all I can see is hatred. Hatred of Thatcher, Bankers, Tories, Daily Mail Readers, all things Man Utd....

Stolly in 'moaning about the forum' shocker!

I haven't got a dog but I feel like I'm intimately involved with yours because of the amount of photos you put on here. However, I don't feel the need to go and proclaim how little interest I actually have in your dog because I know that it may interest some people that actually know you. What's (incredibly) boring to me will interest someone else.

This part of the forum is called 'Down the Pub' - a place for non-fellrunning talk. May I suggest that you steer clear of subjects that don't interest you in future? Which appears to be politics, football and safety. Running in the fells (which I do) is not a pre-requisite for posting on an internet forum.
