Gutted I'm going to miss this Wheeze, although not really fit for the longer stuff at the moment. I was up on Waun Fach the other day and it was beautiful up there. Also found a great line off but won't be making use of it unfortunately :-( I've just had a month off work on paternity leave so swapping weekend shifts is a no-no for me for a few months. Good luck with everything, shame on MDC for not fielding more runners haha!

I feel better about the route-Nav having bimbled around in 8 hours yesterday (walked the ups, jogged the flats and descents, and half hour for lunch) after Friday night's rain front had swept through. I was on my way back North from a week holidaying in Pembrokeshire, so it was a good break in the journey. I messed up the descent through the ferns to Capel-y-ffin (CP4), where I discovered my camelbak had leaked. The charming ladies at the pony-trekking centre came to my rescue by letting me fill up at their horse-trough feeder-pipe (thank you!) rather than the stream. Also messed up on the descent to CP5 (took the wrong path through the forest). I can't claim that I found a good line off Waun Fach nor an obvious good climb to Twyn Talycefn (tussocks) either.
And - I am still wondering who the mystery man in the dark Mitsubishi Barbarian pick up was who kept turning up at the road crossings.
Was it you?

Cheers OB1...hope you race a bit faster! Otherwise, its a long day out for everyone (no pressure then!!).
The path coming down to Capel Y Ffin is a bit devious.
If you went into the forest at Grwyne, you went too far southeast. The path runs along the forest edge.
The best line off Waun Fach is open to debate. The tussock field up to TalyCefn can be be tricky to avoid.
Well done for checking the Camelbak!
The bloke in the pick up? Probably the Llanthony Strangler looking for a fresh victim!!
