Graham,
This was myself with the number on the shorts. I thought it was the logical thing to do as I was looking to wear my jacket for the majority of the race. I was told at the finish line by Johnathon where I apologised for my ignorance to the rules (new to this game see). Sorry for any confusion.

It's OK. Not a problem. No witch hunt.

But with a wide funnel to accommodate two Sportident dibber boxes as we had at CP2 today it is impossible to read a number on a runner's thigh on the far side of the funnel but the runner will assume it can be read and run straight through.

A runner with a number under a cag. knows it cannot be read and so generally comes to the CP and the marshal "prepared" to lift the cag briefly to display the number.
