Given that I now run on the fells 3 - 4 days a week I was surprised to have sore quads after the Wansfell Pike race - but chatting to others at the first race in the Kendal Winter League series it would seem I was not the only one, and that, despite being so short, the race has quite a reputation for doing this. Presumably it is a consequence of continual braking on the steep descent.
