I was feeling pretty knackered after that one, probably the wind I suppose. Fantastic scene at Kinder Downfall where the wind had blown the water back onto the plateau and it had coated all the rocks with a layer of ice It was the first time I had run the Mill Hill route as I usually cut across to the Kinder plateau and it seemed to go on forever with the strong wind in your face.

Thanks to Nicky and all her helpers and those brilliant MRT marshalls. I hope everyone got back without any major mishaps.

Nice write up and read (as ever) Zeph.
Sounds like you paced it just right, finishing strong!
Like you I:
- started steady and it helped conserve some energy for the second gnarlier half.
- got hacked off with the 'peak exposure' when removing gloves to unclip backpack waist strap to reveal number below jacket.
- had a wind-side contact lens that played havoc fighting not to get blown out (the leeside one was fine).
- plunged (one legged) into those between-flag holes (Snake summit - Mill Hill section) 3 times, but unlike you was lucky not to do any damage.
- perked up after heading east from Kinder Low to Grindslow and enjoyed the cruise down the hill into Edale.
Not a fast time today for me but a memorable day out.

Hope your wounds heal soon.

Great but tough race today. Thanks to the organisers and Woodhead Mountain Rescue, they were out is some pretty grim conditions. Food was excellent as ever and some great support, jelly babies aplenty. Favourite moment was when they tried to give the second ladies prize to a bloke!

I hope that everyone has thawed out by now - it was a bit breezy up on Bleaklow and I can only imagine how bad it was on the edge of Kinder!

The morning after & I'm feeling a little sore in the legs. Big thanks go out again to RO, marshals, MRT, supporters & the crowds that gathered to cheer at CPs along the way. Despite feeling a little emotional when I couldn't feel my hands going on to Kinder, and losing a fair few places in the last third, I found the whole race pretty life affirming.
