It certainly did seem a long way. If I'd have known that the Dark Peak vest in front of me contained a V50 I might have tried a bit harder - but then again I was already trying as hard as I could. It wouldn't really have mattered much anyway: the worst thing that happened to me last year was Andy Staveley's 50th birthday party.

What a strange deja vu - within two seconds and a few places as well. There are a lot of us around up around Bolton/Wigan/Horwich/St Helens and that sort of way. But the 1998 runner wasn't me - it must have been one of the distantly related "double t" Liptrotts.

Would double trotts make you run any faster?

    Fantastic!

For the first time ever, there's a picture of me in a race where I don't look absolutely knackered!

    Thanks Dave, you're my hero!

Congratulations to Linsey Brindle on her win today. She's a local and the pressure was on, it felt like most of the people of Horwich had turned out to offer Linsey support....and she didn't disappoint...beltin!

Another local had a cracker with Rob Hope winning overall, along with 1st to the top and beating a 36 yr old veteran record...set by Ron Hill, who was here today for I think his 40th Pike race.

    Thanks to all involved.

And finally, shock horror... Chorley vets won team prize after years of Horwich dominance....get in!

Thoroughly enjoyed yesterdays running. Bad shoe choice will have gifted some people with videos and cameras of some comedy arse sliding coming back down off the top!

It also marked the end of my first and fantastically enjoyable year of fell running. It all kicked off with Pendle last year (boy was that an eye-opener!!), so it was great to cap it off with a classic such as Rivi, especially as Darren has said, Ron Hill was in the field too!

Does anybody know if the Junior Pike Races are on this year? I don't seem to see any updated information or Entry forms on the Horwich RMI Harriers website and my daughter is really keen to take part.
